Cooking classes for 2012!

Hello everyone!

I am very pleased to announce that our cooking classes, all of them were such a great success and because of that it will continue to be as we will start all over again next year of 2012, starting by January.

So we are already in session at the Plantation Civic Center but we will be coming back only on January 5th 2012 at 4:30 pm.

Pompano Beach Civic Center will start a new session from January 11th to February 29th 2012. Registrations are open already!

The Lighthouse Christian School starting by January starting Tuesday 01/17/12 to 03/06/12.

And also with the Saint Mark Episcopal School also starting in January 2012 but we don't have a closed date yet, I will keep you informed about it.

I am so proud of all of you that have attended to one of my cooking classes and how much fun did we have! And all the food that we did, that was super awesome!!!

Enjoy your holidays as much as you can, spread the love with your cooking, try to do some of our recipes learned in class so you can impress your family and show them how good little gourmet Chef's you are!!!

I hope I will touch your heart this X'mas! Eu espero te tocar neste Natal!

Every Christmas we wish for happy moments with our family, the gift that we waited all year long, food, celebration parties and all the holiday trimmings but we do forget that are so many in need everywhere in the world and close to you too! Every day I get bombarded over the internet and the TV with animal cruelty pictures, videos and stories and also about babies, kids and elderly people that have been abused or neglected or need help. I said to myself why I can’t give 1% of myself to help every month a cause. It could be donating, or volunteering, or talking about a cause or just by trying to get people more conscious wise about all the cruelty that we, human still do to other creatures!! I ask myself why people still harm one another. It seems that the answer is quite simple, ignorance! So if we teach our kids to be kind, if we try to make human be to be a little bit better and to be more humane, look the word already speaks by itself, HUMANE, the world could so much better!!!
So have a wonderful Christmas this year and a blessed New Year. I hope I have reached some of you and if yes please donate this Christmas to your local pet adoption center or to an organization that helps people around the world or close to you!
Share information about anything that you think it's important and that it need help! Share also information about cruelty, abuse and negligence so everyone can understand how sad that is!

Entra ano sai ano e quando estamos chegando proximo ao Natal soh no que pensamos eh naquele presente que estamos esperando o ano todo, nas festa, na comemoracao com a familia, na comida e todo o resto que se inclui nessa epoca. Mas o que nos esquecemos tao facilmente todos os anos eh de quantos sao os necessitados no mundo ou mesmo a sua volta. E quando digo necessitados nao eh exatamente so nos humanos mas sim dos animais tambem!
Todos os dias eu sou bombardeada com noticias via internet ou na TV sobre crueldade, abuso e negligencia com animais, criancas e idosos. E oque eu me pergunto eh aonde isso vai parar, sera que tudo esta caminhando para cada vez pior? Sera que eh que pode existir pior?
O que eu penso eh que se nos doacemos 1% de nosso tempo uma vez no mes em ajudar numa causa local ou um orfanato, um asilo, um refugio de doacoes de animais, nas organizacoes que ajudam aos moradores de rua e se ajudassemos com doacoes monetaria ou servico voluntariado, ou ate mesmo de espalhar a noticia para ajuda, isso ja faria uma diferenca tao grande!
Veja como exemplo eu estou hoje tomando meu 1% de tempo para escrever para todos sobre o que eu penso, tentando tocar alguns com esta mensagem e assim quem sabe esta mensagem nao se espalha e outros leram e se sentiram tocados e vao pensar diferente. Outro exmplo, quando lemos sobre crueldade, por mais que doa assitir, assita sim, para entender um pouco da dor do outro e repasse, para que outros possam sentir o mesmo que voce!
Se todos nos fizessemos o nosso 1% ao mes de contribuicao ao proximo isso ja faria uma diferenca absurda para muitos que tao pouco tem ou que tanto sofrem. Entao quando puderem pensem no seu 1% e use-o, nao deixe passar em branco. Ano novo eh sempre motivo de novas metas e se todos nos mudarmos um pouco sera muito bom! Acreditem nisso!

I am so happy about this... ! Muito feliz com essa noticia...!



Hello everyone!
I am very happy to announce that stating by August 3rd I will have my own cooking classes for kids at the Pompano Beach Civic Center and it will be every Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm.
It will be a lot of fun and each kids will have a folder to keep all the recipes with the history about the recipe of the day and they will also decorate on the 1st day of class their own apron.
But the best part will be to have their hands on each recipe and eat everything that was done!

Ola pessoal!

Eu estou muito feliz de pode contar a todas de que minha classe de culinaria para
criancas vai iniciar no dia 3 de Agosto, Quarta-feira, e sera das 4 as 5 da tarde.

As criancas poderao decorar o seu proprio avental na primeira classe e vao receber uma pasta para poder guardar as receitas e tambem sobre a historia da receita do dia.

Sera muito divertido e a melhor parte com certeza sera a de que elas poderao realmente colocar a mao na massa e comoer tudo que for feito em classe e isso eu sei que eles vao adorar.

Sofia's B'Day! Bilisario da Sofia!

Sofia happy birthday my dear and I hope have enjoyed preaparing your own apron and your own pizza! My daughter was there too and Sophia's brother too, Thomas!

American Sandwich??? I don't think so but... Sanduiche amerciano, sera mesmo, acho que nao!!!!

Well why they call this sandwich in Sao Paulo Brazil, the American sandwich I sincerely don't know or have a clue and why is that, it's because the Americans don't eat eggs in their sandwiches only for breakfast sandwiches and if I am wrong please do correct me but that is how I know from living here so long!



If you go to any deli/restaurant and bakery in Sao Paulo and order "one Americano sandwich please" what you will be served will be french bread, ham , cheese, tomato, lettuce and mayo and to finish a nice over easy fried egg! yummy so delicious!
But my version of this sandwich it's a little bit more sophisticated, it's Brioche bread or Challah Bread toasted, smoked turkey (please use a good quality cold cut, and preferably without Nitrate sodium[applegates farm and hormel have them]) organic lettuce and tomato, one organic egg fried over easy, oregano and good extra virgin olive oil mayo. uhhhmmm so good!

Bom o porque do sanduiche em Sao Paulo ser chamado de Americano eu realmente nao sei pois pelo que eu sei ate hoje o unico sanduiche que o americano come com ovo eh no cafe da manha e se eu estiver enganada por favor me corrigem pois depois de tanto tempo vivendo aqui eh o que eu sempre entendi, ovos so de manha!

Se voce for em qualquer boteco, restaurante ou sanduicheria em Sao Paulo e pedir : ei me ve um sanduiche americano, por favor!" voce vai receber um pao frances com presunto, queijo, tomate, alface, ovo frito e maionese e estara delicioso! Mas a minha versao do sanduiche americano eh um pouco mais sofisticado, pois eu uso pao brioche ou pao sovado, ovo frito organico, queijo provolone e peito de peru defumado de uma marca daqui dos EUA sem Nitrato de Sodio, e com alface e tomate organico e maionese de azeite extra virgem de oliva! Meu voces nao sabem que delicia que fica~

QWE Volunteer's breakfast! Cafe da manha p/ Quiet Waters Escola!

What a lovely treat this was to myself to be choosen to prepare the Quiet Waters Elementary School Volunteer's appreciation breakfast!




It was a very big breakfast for 80 volunteers and it was so nice to cook for them because I am myself a volunteer too so I know how nice it is to receive some recognition for our volunteer work, to be involved with our children school, so congratulations to everyone and I hope you have enjoyed this wonderful morning!

Birthday Party from the beginning of 2011! Festa de aniversario do inicio de 2011!

This was a delightful birthday party that I have prepared for this lovely couple Mr. And Ms. Barnett and it was a huge success! And very delicious too!





This was a very nice party with a good and mixed menu like potatoes au gratin, Lnguine with mussels in white wine sauce, roasted beef with sauce and pearl onions, salad and roasted pears with prosciutto and fresh sage leaves, yummy!

Esta festa foi muito boa e o cardapio foi muito bem escolhido e bem variado pois tee Batatas au Gratin, Linguine com molho de marisco ao vinho branco, salada, Roast Beef au molho madeira cebola perola caramelizadas e peras assados com salvia fresca e presunto de parma defumado (prosciuto), delicia!

Hello Everyone! I'm back!

I missed you all very much and as usual my computer have been breaking up on me and now when I thought that all my problems were resolved guess what they weren't. I just got a new computer, faster and so much more memory and etc what happened after 4 days of using, VIRUS!!! Big major one and now my computer is not working properly! Can you believe that, well I didn't as it almost looked like a joke but unfortunately it wasn't.

So I back using my little net book and hoping that it will collaborate with me until I can trust the other computer and so I will be more in touch with you all!

Oh by the way I have created I new blog to talk about daily spontaneously stuff like, food, web sites, strange things or stories so check it out OK! It's www.edibledailymoments.blogspot.com and of course my other blog which has been a huge success it's my Little Gourmet Cuisines blog! I have been teaching cooking classes for kids since last year and so far it has been a huge success and I will be teaching the beginning of this August at the Pompano Beach Civic Center and it will start on Aug. 3rd 2011 and it will run from 4Pm to 5Pm and the registration has already started directly with the Pompano Beach Civic Center office which is located at 1801 NE 6Th Street, Pompano Beach FL 33060 and their phone it's (954) 786-4111. This will be very cool because for the first time I will be teaching in a public space so everyone can come and register your kids and the age will be from kindergarten thru 5th graders. So spread the word and bring your kids as they will learn to eat healthier and try so many different foods, they will love this!!

Birthday party! Festa de aniversario!

This was a very fun and cool party that I've done and it was for a beautiful family in Boca Raton, FL.

This party was a huge success and everything was perfect and delicious so I hope you enjoy the pictures and if you would like any recipe of the appetizers please email me @ gourmetchefvanessa@gmail.com or chefvanessa@gourmetcuisines.com



The menu of this party was only appetizers and salad and some good old brazilian recipes as the couple and the family really enjoyed Brazilian cooking.



Menu:
Bacon Wrapped Scallops served with spicy mayo on top in a porcelain chinese spoon
Salpicão de Frango (Brazilian Style Chicken Salad) served in a Martini glass
Bacon Mac n' Cheese with truffle oil served in ramekins
Grlled Polenta squares served with tomato & mixed mushrooms ragu topped with parmesan shaves
Steak au Poivre Crostinis - Crushed peppers encrusted beef ternderloin (filet mignon) sliced and served on crostinis with heavy cream sauce on top
Fresh Figs served on french bread croutons with goat cheese and fresh rosemay spread and topped with a drizzle of honey and prosciutto
Watercress, Mixed greens, grape tomatoes and crumbled queso blanco served with home made mustard dressing.
